This Privacy Policy explains how Sift Labs ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Sift app ("the App").

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use the App:

Account information: Email address and password when you register, or basic profile information if you sign in with Google.
Scanned content: Images, videos, and text you submit for AI detection analysis. This content is sent to third-party APIs (Sightengine, GPTZero) for processing and is not permanently stored by us.
Usage data: Basic information about how you use the App, collected through Firebase Analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide AI detection results for content you submit
To authenticate your account and maintain your session
To send transactional emails such as password reset requests
To improve the App and diagnose technical issues

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Sightengine — processes images and videos for AI detection (sightengine.com/privacy)
GPTZero — processes text for AI detection (gptzero.me/privacy-policy)
Firebase (Google) — authentication, storage, and analytics (firebase.google.com/support/privacy)

4. Data Retention

Scanned content is transmitted to third-party APIs for analysis and is not permanently stored by Sift Labs. Account data is retained until you delete your account. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@siftlabs.app.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Authentication is handled by Firebase, which uses industry-standard security practices.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
